Venezia Santa Lucia Station – Private Transfers
The only station in Italy where the exit gives onto a canal instead of a road.
Overview
Venezia Santa Lucia is the terminus station of the historic centre and among Italy's ten busiest by passenger flow. It is served by Frecciarossa and Italo from Rome, Milan, Bologna and Florence, by EuroCity trains to Munich and Vienna, and by regional services across the north-east. It has one feature that surprises first-time arrivals: outside the exit there is no taxi rank, but the Grand Canal. The taxis are boats, and the only place a car can stop is Piazzale Roma, five minutes away on foot over the Ponte della Costituzione. That is where our transfers pick up and drop off passengers heading for the airports, the Dolomites or the coast: 20 minutes to Marco Polo, 40 to Treviso, under two hours to Cortina.

Where to find your driver
The meeting point is Piazzale Roma, not the station forecourt — which does not exist: between the platforms and the cars lies the Grand Canal. From the Santa Lucia exit you cross the Ponte della Costituzione and reach Piazzale Roma in five minutes, where the driver waits with a board showing your surname. If you have heavy luggage, say so at booking: the bridge has steps, and in that case arriving at the same square by water taxi is the easier plan.

FAQs
Where does the driver meet me at Venezia Santa Lucia station?+
At Piazzale Roma, five minutes on foot from the station across the Ponte della Costituzione: it is the only point a car can reach. In front of Santa Lucia there is the Grand Canal, not a road.
How much is a transfer from Venice to Marco Polo airport?+
From €75 for up to 3 passengers and €100 for a Mercedes V-Class up to 6, for the 15 km between Piazzale Roma and the terminal, about 20 minutes.
Can I be collected right outside the station?+
No, and not because of a rule of ours: Venice has no roads for cars. The taxis outside Santa Lucia are boats; cars come as far as Piazzale Roma.
What is the difference between Santa Lucia and Venezia Mestre?+
Santa Lucia is in the historic centre, Mestre on the mainland, ten minutes apart by train. At Mestre a car reaches the entrance; at Santa Lucia it cannot.
Is it still worth it with heavy luggage?+
Yes, but tell us at booking: with a lot of luggage, reaching Piazzale Roma by water taxi avoids the bridge steps, and the car waits for you there.
