Padua sits 47 km west of Marco Polo and is reached in about 45 minutes on the A4 motorway. It is one of the great small cities of northern Italy — Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel, the basilica of St Anthony, a university that has taught since 1222 and the oldest academic botanical garden on earth, all UNESCO-listed. The transfer runs door to door: Padua has restricted-traffic zones in the very centre, and your driver knows the legal drop-off nearest each hotel. Fixed price per vehicle, tolls and luggage included, flight monitored.

  • 45 minutes on the A4, tolls included in the fixed price
  • Door-to-door drop-off; ZTL-aware drivers who know the legal stopping points
  • Convenient for congresses at the Padua Congress Centre and the university
  • Also serves the Euganean Hills spa towns of Abano and Montegrotto
  • Fixed price per vehicle for up to 6 with luggage
  • Return transfer to VCE or TSF booked on the same reservation

Padova

About the destination

Padua carries its 3,000 years lightly. In the Scrovegni Chapel Giotto painted, in 1305, the fresco cycle that begins Western modern painting; a few streets away the Orto Botanico has grown medicinal plants since 1545, and Galileo taught at the university for eighteen years. Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta still hold the daily market under the vast Palazzo della Ragione, and Prato della Valle is the largest square in Italy. Ten kilometres south the Euganean Hills rise out of the plain with the thermal towns of Abano and Montegrotto, whose hot springs have been in use since Roman times.

About the route

Road, traffic and timing

From Marco Polo the route joins the A4 Venice–Milan motorway westbound and exits at Padova Est or Padova Zona Industriale according to your address, reaching the centre in about 45 minutes for 47 km. Motorway tolls are included in the fixed price.

Travel tips

Know before you go

  • Scrovegni Chapel entry is timed and sells out days ahead — book before you fly
  • The Padova Urbs Picta UNESCO fresco cycles are spread across eight buildings: plan a full day
  • For a spa stay, ask for the transfer to Abano or Montegrotto directly rather than via Padua

What to visit

Nearby attractions

  • Scrovegni Chapel — Giotto's 1305 fresco cycle
  • Basilica of St Anthony — one of Italy's great pilgrimage churches
  • Orto Botanico — the world's oldest university botanical garden, from 1545
  • Prato della Valle — the largest square in Italy
  • Euganean Hills and the thermal towns of Abano and Montegrotto

When to visit

Seasonal notes & events

Padua is a year-round city and works well in winter, when Venice is cold and empty and the frescoes are quiet. The spa season in the Euganean Hills peaks between October and April. Late June brings the university graduation season, when hotels fill on weekends.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much is a private transfer from Venice airport to Padua?+

From €150 for up to 3 passengers, €200 for a Mercedes V-Class up to 6. Price per vehicle, tolls, luggage and flight monitoring included.

How long is the drive from Marco Polo to Padua?+

About 45 minutes for 47 km on the A4. Weekday rush hour around Padua Est can add 15 minutes.

Can the car reach my hotel in the historic centre?+

In most cases yes; the innermost streets are ZTL (limited traffic) and there the driver stops at the nearest legal point, a short walk away, and helps with the luggage.

Do you also serve Abano and Montegrotto Terme?+

Yes. The spa towns are 10 km south of Padua and about 55 minutes from Marco Polo; give us the hotel name and we quote the exact route.

Is the train not cheaper?+

Per person, yes, but it means the airport bus to Mestre station, a train and a taxi at the other end. The private transfer is one vehicle, one price and one journey — normally the better choice from two or three passengers with luggage.
