Pay on arrival — no card needed

Marco Polo is the natural airport for Cortina, and this is the transfer that makes the connection work: 147 km up the A27 and the Alemagna road, about an hour and three quarters, with the Dolomites filling the windscreen for the last forty minutes. We carry ski and snowboard equipment at no extra charge — declare it when booking so the right vehicle is sent — and in winter our cars run on winter tyres as required by law on these roads. Your driver waits at arrivals with a name board and tracks the flight, which matters on a route where late arrivals meet mountain weather.

  • Under two hours from the terminal to the centre of Cortina
  • Ski and snowboard carriage included — tell us the kit and we send the right vehicle
  • Winter tyres and chains on board, as the mountain roads require
  • Door-to-door to hotels, chalets and rental apartments in the Ampezzo valley
  • Also serves San Vito, Borca, Arabba, Alleghe and the Dolomite passes
  • Fixed price per vehicle: a group of six pays once, tolls included

Cortina d'Ampezzo

About the destination

Cortina d'Ampezzo lies at 1,224 m in a bowl of pale Dolomite walls — Tofane, Cristallo, Sorapis, Faloria — that turn rose at sunset. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956 and again, with Milan, in February 2026, and it has been the most fashionable mountain town in Italy for a century: Corso Italia is a promenade of boutiques and pasticcerie as much as a street. In winter the Dolomiti Superski network puts 1,200 km of pistes on one pass; in summer the same walls become via ferrate, the Cinque Torri and the high refuges of the Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park.

About the route

Road, traffic and timing

The route takes the A27 motorway north to Belluno, then the SS51 'Alemagna' up the Boite valley through Longarone, Pieve di Cadore and San Vito to Cortina: 147 km, about 1h45. Tolls included. The last 40 km are mountain road, spectacular and slower in winter.

Travel tips

Know before you go

  • Declare ski bags when booking — it decides which vehicle is sent
  • Peak-season Saturdays are changeover day across the Dolomites: earlier pick-ups avoid the queues
  • In summer ask for a short stop at the Cinque Torri viewpoint on the way up

What to visit

Nearby attractions

  • Tofane, Cristallo and Faloria — the peaks around the valley
  • Cinque Torri and the open-air Great War museum
  • Lake Misurina and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo
  • Corso Italia — the pedestrian heart of Cortina
  • Ampezzo Dolomites Natural Park

When to visit

Seasonal notes & events

Ski season runs from early December to mid-April and peaks at Christmas, New Year and February half-terms, when transfers should be booked weeks ahead. Summer, from late June to September, is the season of via ferrate and refuges. In late autumn many hotels close between the seasons.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much is a private transfer from Venice airport to Cortina?+

From €360 for up to 3 passengers, €450 for a Mercedes V-Class up to 6 — the usual choice with ski equipment. Price per vehicle, motorway tolls and luggage included.

How long does the drive take?+

About one hour and 45 minutes for 147 km, via the A27 to Belluno and the SS51 Alemagna. In heavy snow, or on peak Saturdays in the ski season, allow 30 minutes more.

Can you carry skis and snowboards?+

Yes, at no extra charge, but tell us at booking: a sedan takes two ski bags, four or more need the V-Class. Declared kit means the right vehicle arrives.

Do you run in winter conditions?+

Yes. From 15 November to 15 April the mountain roads require winter tyres or chains on board, and our vehicles comply. In heavy snowfall the drive is slower, never cancelled without notice.

Is a transfer better than the bus from the airport?+

The coach runs a few times a day on a fixed schedule and drops everyone in the centre. A private transfer leaves when your flight lands, carries the ski bags and stops at your chalet door — for a family or a group of skiers the fixed vehicle price usually wins.

Can you take us to Arabba, Alleghe or another Dolomite resort?+

Yes. We serve the whole Dolomite arc from Marco Polo; the fare depends on the valley, so send the resort and we quote it before you book.
