Prosecco Hills
The terraced hogbacks between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene.
Between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene the plain rises into a run of steep ridges, the hogbacks, terraced with vines since the seventeenth century. UNESCO inscribed them on the World Heritage list in 2019. This is the country of Prosecco Superiore DOCG and of Cartizze, the 107-hectare cru whose vineyard land is among the most expensive in Italy, and home to the first Italian wine route, opened in 1966.
