Port of Venice – Cruise Transfers

Marittima, Fusina or Chioggia: the berth depends on your ship, and we take you to the right one.

Yearly cruise passengers644K

Overview

The port of Venice handled around 644,000 cruise passengers on 514 calls across Venice and Chioggia in the 2025 season, up from 634,000 the year before. Since the 2021 measures that removed large ships from the Giudecca canal, traffic has spread across several berths: the Stazione Marittima still takes smaller vessels and river cruisers, the Fusina terminal — fully operational year-round after dredging and investment by Venezia Terminal Passeggeri — handles the largest ships, and some itineraries use Chioggia. Which berth you sail from is not chosen by whoever books the transfer: it is printed on your cruise documents. That is why the first thing we ask for is the ship's name — with it we know the gate, and on embarkation morning nothing else matters as much.

Where to find your driver

On embarkation day we calculate the pick-up backwards from boarding close, normally 1–2 hours before sailing, with a margin for lagoon traffic. Your driver carries the luggage to the terminal entrance, where the port porters take over. On disembarkation — staggered deck by deck — we agree a time and the driver waits at the terminal exit with a name board, then drives you to the airport, your hotel or the station.

Frequently asked questions

Which terminal does my Venice cruise leave from?+

It depends on the ship: Stazione Marittima for smaller and river vessels, Fusina or Marghera for the largest, Chioggia on some itineraries. The berth is on your cruise documents — send it with your booking and we take you to that gate.

How much is a transfer from Venice airport to the cruise terminal?+

From €75 for up to 3 passengers and €100 for a Mercedes V-Class up to 6, the vehicle we recommend with cruise luggage. Price per vehicle, fixed at booking.

What time should I reach the port on embarkation day?+

Boarding normally closes 1–2 hours before sailing. Tell us the ship and the sailing time and we work out the pick-up, with a margin for traffic.

Why do large ships no longer pass in front of St Mark's?+

Since 2021 vessels above a certain tonnage may not cross the Giudecca canal and St Mark's basin. They were moved to Fusina and Marghera on the mainland — a change that affects where you board, not the service.

Can you collect us on disembarkation day?+

Yes. Disembarkation is staggered by deck: we agree a time and the driver waits at the terminal exit with a name board.

Is there room for cruise luggage?+

A standard sedan carries 3 passengers with 3 medium cases; with trunks, or from 4 people, book the Mercedes V-Class.
