Venezia Mestre Station – Private Transfers
Italy's eighth busiest station, 85,000 travellers a day — and a forecourt cars can actually reach.
Overview
Venezia Mestre is the mainland rail hub and one of Italy's busiest stations: around 85,000 travellers and 500 trains a day, the country's eighth by movement. Every service that later enters Venice passes through here — Frecciarossa, Italo, EuroCity trains to Vienna, Munich and Ljubljana — and from here the lines branch toward Verona and Milan, Trieste and Udine. Unlike Santa Lucia it has a real forecourt, with roads, road taxis and the possibility of being collected at the entrance: which is why many Venice transfers, including for people staying on the islands, are arranged from here. Marco Polo airport is 18 minutes away, Treviso half an hour.

Where to find your driver
Your driver waits in the forecourt in front of the station, on the side stated in your booking confirmation, holding a board with your surname. For dawn departures we agree the pick-up the evening before; for late arrivals we track the train just as we would track a flight.

FAQs
How much is a transfer from Venezia Mestre to Marco Polo airport?+
From €65 for up to 3 passengers and €90 for a Mercedes V-Class up to 6, for 12 km and about 18 minutes.
Can a car stop in front of Mestre station?+
Yes. Mestre is on the mainland with a normal forecourt: your driver waits there, unlike at Santa Lucia.
How long does it take from Mestre to the historic centre?+
Ten minutes by train to Santa Lucia, with frequent services; by car, about 20 minutes to Piazzale Roma.
Is it worth staying in Mestre to visit Venice?+
It is the practical choice for many: hotel rates are lower than on the islands and the historic centre is ten minutes away by train. With a booked transfer, airport and hotel connect door to door.
